Southwestern Ontario's "Little Daytona" is under new ownership

The Southern Ontario Motor Speedway in Buxton has new owners.

The Marche Family took over ownership from Henry Kroeker in early April.

If you're missing the smell of racing fuel and the sound of race cars flying around the track, you're in luck because the racing season at the speedway kicks off on May 11, 2024.

The speedway has announced 23 races from May 11 until October, including two double header weekends. Test and Tune practice nights are scheduled for May 3, 4,and 10, 2024.

The new owners are also discussing changing the name to South Buxton Speedway and said they will have a final decision later.

The new ownership said the old parking lot has been removed and was replaced with new recycled asphalt. They have also installed drainage throughout the parking lot, the pit area, and the grandstands.

"Our team at Southern Ontario Motor Speedway would like to thank the entire racing community throughout Ontario for the support the team and I have received. It has been truly amazing. To see so many people pull together to try an keep all of our passions and love for racing alive, as well as continue to improve our facility on an off the speedway and show not only southern Ontario, but all of Ontario that dirt racing in southern Ontario is only going to grow!" said speedway officials. "We would like to thank Henry for all of his hard work over the years and are excited to continue to build."

The new ownership has already announced some exciting news for the 2024 racing season, including the return of the Rapid Race Rescue team and added the Great Lakes Legends Series on August 17, 2024 as well.
