Controversy and chicken sandwiches coming to London

One of the most popular fast food chains in the United States is eyeing London for a new location.

Chick-Fil-A will be moving into a restaurant at 3459 Wonderland Road South (just north of Wharncliffe Road) according documents at London City Hall.

The restaurant, according to documents, will have a double drive-thru and be just over 5,000 square feet in size.

The owner of the property, York Developments, has not returned requests to comment. Chick-Fil-A spokespeople did not return e-mails or calls asking for comment on Monday.

There's no word on how many employees the restaurant would have or when it would open.

While some restaurant goers will be excited to welcome a new dining option in the city, Chick-Fil-A does come with some controversy.

Chairman Dan Cathy has been heavily criticized for donations to anti-LGBTQ organizations. Similar corporate donations were also made, but restaurant spokespeople say those stopped in 2020.

There are six Chick-Fil-A locations in Canada, including one in Windsor that was the scene of protests not long after it opened.

Chick-Fil-A has more than 2,800 locations throughout North America and employs more than 35,000 people.
