Police make arrest in fatal Clarke Road hit and run

After weeks of investigating and multiple asks for the public's help, London Police have made an arrest in a fatal hit and run crash.

On September 19th, James Feeley, who was 35, died in the area of Clarke Road and Dundas Street when he was hit by a minivan just before 6 a.m.

Police asked for the public's assistance multiple times in the weeks following Feeley's death, saying they were looking for an older model Dodge Caravan silver or grey in colour with damage to the front end, and a line of black trim across the sides.

On Tuesday, police announced the arrest of Hoaney Orlando Washington Getten, 37, of London.

Getten is charged with fail to stop at the scene of an accident causing death; and, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death.

The accused is set to appear in court on November 28th.

In his obituary, Feeley’s family said he was an outdoorsman, a hard working labourer, a talented roofer who took great pride in his work, and loved spending time with his family.

“James was a people person that will be remembered by his warm smile and loud contagious laugh, he had a big heart that he led with throughout his life,” read his obit. “He will be remembered in this way and he will be missed dearly by his big family and many friends.”
