One man arrested, another sought in $145K southeast London drug bust

The seizure of a loaded semi-automatic handgun and nearly $145,000 worth of cocaine and pills from two southeast London homes has led to charges against two men.

Officers with the London police guns and gangs section, with the help of the emergency response unit, searched the two homes on Tuesday. The raids turned up a Springfield Hellcat 9 mm semi-automatic sub-combat handgun loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition, 913 grams of cocaine, 9,298 Dilaudid tablets, and 1,440 TEC tablets.

The value of the drugs seized is $144,990, according to police.

Two London men, 30-year-old Boris Ruti Kaleke and 31-year-old Gael Kabanga Kaleke, are jointly charged with careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, and possession of an identity document.

The 30-year-old is additionally charged with three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order. He has been arrested and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

Gael Kabanga Kaleke's charges have been issued by way of warrant as he has not yet been taken into custody. Police have said his whereabouts are currently unknown. He is described as Black, approximately 5’8”, 161 lbs, with a medium build, short black hair, black facial hair and brown eyes.

Police are cautioning anyone who sees the 31-year-old wanted man not approach him, but to call 9-1-1 immediately.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
