Teen charged with threatening Delhi Secondary school, students

A teenager is facing charges after online threats were made against Delhi District Secondary School and the students who attend it.

A group of people were involved in an online conversation shortly after midnight on Wednesday when one person allegedly began making the serious threats. The incident was reported to Norfolk OPP who quickly launched an investigation.

Police said the threats involved causing harm to the school building, as well as people in the school community, however, offered no specifics.

With the help of the Niagara Regional Police Service, a person of interest was arrested without incident at a home in Welland.

An 18-year-old Norfolk County man is charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in Simcoe court in relation to the charge at a later date.

There is believed to be no threat to public safety at this time, police reassured.
