Pair of collisions slow Highway 401 through London

Two separate crashes, one involving a bus and the other a dump truck, caused major delays on Highway 401 in the London-area Tuesday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the first collision in the westbound lanes at Westchester Bourne to the east of the city just before 8 a.m. Four-vehicles, including a dump truck, collided. The crash blocked two lanes of the three lane highway causing a significant traffic backup.

Roughly 20 minutes after that crash, a sedan and coach bus collided in the eastbound lanes just west of Wellington Road. That collision shut down two left lanes.

While the exact number of people hurt has not been released, Middlesex OPP did confirm injuries in both collisions were non-life threatening.

All lanes of the highway were reopened shortly before 9:30 a.m.

The investigation into the cause of both collisions is ongoing.
