Man accused of swinging baseball bat at woman

A Dorchester man faces several charges after police allege he swung a baseball bat a woman who was among a group of people who asked him to move his car.

Around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to a parking lot on Wellington Road in the south end of the city. According to police, a man was sitting in the driver's seat in a car that was blocking a through-lane in the parking lot.

"Citizens approached the male in attempts to have him move the vehicle, however, he refused to do so and exited the car holding a wooden bat," police said. "The suspect male approached a citizen while swinging the bat towards her and her vehicle. Security officers were dispatched to the area, and the suspect male proceeded to chase them with the bat in hand, while shouting threats of death."

The man got back in his car and drove toward Bradley Avenue.

Police arrested a suspect not long after. No injuries were reported.

A 43-year-old man is charged with four counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering death threats, and impaired driving.
