Suspect identified in Wateroak arson case

London police say a suspect has been identified in what has been termed a hate-motivated arson.

Crews responded to a home on Wateroak Drive on Saturday night at around 10:40 p.m. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

Damage was estimated to be around $30,000.

Investigators said a man allegedly went to the home on foot at around 9:30 p.m. and left shortly after with items from the front yard.

He returned at around 10:30 p.m. and started a fire on the porch.

Based on information received by police, a 55-year-old man is sought.

Genadi Nacshonov of London faces charges by warrant of arson, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats or property damage, criminal harassment by threatening conduct, disguise with intent to commit an offence, theft under $5,000, and trespass by night.

Investigators believe he may have left the country.

"Our investigative team has worked tirelessly to identify a suspect and ensure that the appropriate charges are laid," said London police Detective Inspector Alex Krygsman. "This investigation continues to be active and ongoing and will remain so until the accused is brought into custody."

Anyone with information on Nacshonov's whereabouts should call London police at (519) 661-5670. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
