City of London giving away 1,000 trees

The City of London will mark National Tree Day by giving away a thousand trees.

The city announced on Tuesday that it will give the trees away on Wednesday, September 22. Anyone interested in getting a free tree, while supplies last, can go to 555 Bathurst St. between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.

“We’re very excited to be celebrating National Tree Day in the Forest City. As a part of the City of London’s initiative to increase canopy cover on private property, we are giving away 1,000 trees,” said City of London Forestry Inspector Jaclyn Ellah. “We have a variety of species available, including large shade trees and smaller trees too. Do your part on National Tree Day and plant a tree!”

The following tree types will be available:

Red Maple Silver Maple White Birch Tulip Tree Witch-Hazel Sycamore Basswood White Spruce White Pine Seviceberry Redbud

Visitors are limited to two trees per vehicle, and the trees will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis.
