The damages are expected to be in the millions of dollars, but no injuries are being reported after a fire destroyed a large barn in Norfolk County just northwest of Simcoe.
Norfolk County Assistant Fire Chief Scott Pipe said firefighters were called to the scene on Windham Road 7 near Teeterville Road just before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and by the time fire crews arrived, heavy smoke and flames were already visible.
Firefighters from Haldimand County and Brant County also responded to the blaze.
Norfolk County OPP Constable Ed Sanchuk said he was not aware of any livestock that may have been in the barn at the time of the fire, but added that there were several farm tractors and other farm-related vehicles inside.
Sanchuk also praised the efforts of the firefighters for managing to save a nearby barn and a nearby house from being destroyed.
