A man and a woman from Dutton-Dunwich have been charged after a rash of break-ins occurred while families were away at funerals.
The Ontario Provincial Police warned the public in September of a sudden rise in the number of homes in Middlesex and Elgin counties being burglarized while the owners were attending a funeral service.
As a result of an investigation, police have arrested 45-year-old Krystle Oag and 55-year-old Ian Scott. Both have been charged with 16 counts each of possession of property obtained by crime, 18 counts of possession of a firearm obtained by crime, four counts of careless storage of a firearm obtained by crime, three counts of possession of a prohibited device, and one count of removing vehicle identification number
Oag is additionally charged with break and enter, obstructing a peace officer and possession of break-in instruments.
Several items from the break-ins have since been recovered, including a large number of guns.
