Londoners who've been itching to lace up their skates and hit the ice will soon be able to do so.
The City of London announced Thursday that indoor public skating will resume at select arenas on Monday, November 9.
According to a news release from the city, public skating will be offered at Argyle Arena, Bostwick Arena, Carling Arena, Earl Nichols Arena, Kinsmen Arena, Lambeth Arena, Medway Arena, Stronach Arena.
"Public skating programs have been modified to follow guidelines and health precautions set out by the Province of Ontario and the Middlesex-London Health Unit, including physical distancing and group size restrictions," the city said in the news release.
Under the COVID-19 related regulations, only 12 skaters will be allowed on an ice surface at a time. While masks aren't required when skaters are on the ice, they do have to be worn throughout the arena. People will have to maintain two metres of physical distance from one another. Dressing rooms will be open, however, skaters are encouraged to arrive dressed to skate.
Skaters can register for a program up to seven days in advance of the program date. Because of a limited number of spots and anticipated demand, it's recommended that people register early.
Registration and skating schedules will be available at Play Your Way online as of Monday, November 2 at 8:30 a.m. Registration can also be done over the phone by calling 519-661-5575. You can also register in person at the city offices on the second floor of Citiplaza.
