COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex appear to be continuing on a downward trend.
Local health officials reported 31 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday as well as five new deaths.
The latest fatalities were two women and a man in their 70s from the general community. A woman in her 60s and a man in his 80s who were associated with a long-term care and retirement home also passed away.
The additional cases bring the regional overall case count to 12,040. As of Saturday, 604 cases are active and 72 people are hospitalized.
Ten of the latest cases are outbreak-related, six are community-acquired, five are close contacts of confirmed cases and 10 cases are still under investigation.
Meanwhile, 143 more people recovered from the virus in the region over the past 24 hours. A total of 10,877 of the cases in Windsor-Essex are listed as being resolved.
There are currently 17 long-term care or retirement homes and 18 workplaces in COVID-19 outbreak. There are also six community outbreaks.
Elsewhere, health officials in Ontario logged 2,063 additional cases on Saturday, 73 new deaths and 2,623 more resolved cases.
