COVID-19 cases linked to six more Thames Valley schools

Another COVID-19 outbreak and six additional cases of the virus have been reported at more schools in the London region.

The Thames Valley District School Board identified the cases late Monday night at the following schools:

• East Elgin Secondary School in Alymer

• Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School in London

• Woodland Heights Public School in London

• Westfield Public School in Tillsonburg

• River Heights Public School in Dorchester

• Sir John A McDonald Public School in London

Southwestern Public Health has also declared an outbreak at Westfield Public. There are currently four active cases linked to the school. Other Thames Valley schools dealing with ongoing outbreaks include Mary Wright Public in Strathroy and Port Burwell Public. Of the schools with outbreaks, only Port Burwell has been temporarily closed.

The Middlesex London Health Unit and Southwestern Public Health are working to identify close contacts of the infected individuals.

"If you do not receive a letter from Thames Valley indicating the public health unit has identified your child as a close contact, your child is not considered to be at risk," the school board said in a  statement. "Staff and students who have been identified as a close contact will be notified and advised to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 10 days."
