One dozen dogs seized following aggression complaints

A Thames Centre resident is facing charges after an investigation into reports of aggressive dogs.

Just after 4 p.m. on Saturday, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), including the K9 Unit and the Emergency Response Unit, executed a search warrant at a Marion Street address due to public safety concerns.

Police said that 12 dogs were seized from the property with the help of a local kennel.

No injuries were reported during the seizure.

A 63-year-old is facing the following charges under the Dog Owners Liability Act:

  • Failure to exercise reasonable precautions to prevent dog(s) behaving in a menacing manner

  • Failure to prevent biting or attacking a person or domestic animal

The investigation is ongoing.
