Knights Quell the Storm 8-1

The London Knights scored early and often and easily beat the Storm in Guelph 8-1 Sunday afternoon.

The Knights hang on to the second place spot in the OHL Midwest Division with 87 points, and pull themselves closer to the division-leading Erie Otters, who lost Sunday to the Owen Sound Attack.

Janne Kuokkanen opened the scoring for London in the first period, at 7:25.  Later in the period, Guelph tied it up on the power play with James McEwan's 16th goal of the year.  That would be the only time the Storm would find the net in the contest.  The Knights added two more goals in the opening period, from Sam Miletic and Mitchell Stephens.

London scored three more goals in the second period.  Liam Foudy made the score 5-1 London just after three minutes in.  Miletic scored his second of the game just over a minute later, and Robert Thomas added still another goal before the second intermission with the score 7-1 Knights.

Guelph goalie Anthony Popovich was pulled after the second period and replaced with Liam Herbst, who allowed two more London goals in the third.  Cliff Pu and Dante Salituro scored within 41 seconds of each other.

Together, Popovich and Herbst had 23 saves in 31 attempts in goal for the Storm.  Tyler Johnson stopped all but one of Guelph's 30 shots to get the win for London.

The Knights travel to Kitchener Friday night to take on the Rangers.
