Attack smother Knights 5-1, end London's 15-game win streak

The Owen Sound Attack poured on the offence in their 5-1 win over the London Knights at the Bayshore Community Centre Saturday night.

The Attack ended the Knights' 15-game winning streak and now have 33 points in the OHL Midwest Division. The Knights are still on top of the division with 44 points.

There was no scoring in the first 20 minutes of the game. Owen Sound had two power play opportunities and London had one, outshooting the Attack 11-10.

Owen Sound fired three straight goals in the second period to get a lead they would not relinquish. Markus Phillips scored on the power play at 1:06, Kevin Hancock scored his 25th goal of the season just over a minute later, then Kaleb Pearson added insurance at 4:24. The Knights did get on the board with a power play goal by Adam Boqvist at 10:59, but Zachary Roberts got that goal back for the Attack before the second intermission.

Mitchell Russell added an empty-netter late in the third for Owen Sound.

Andrew MacLean faced 43 shots in goal for the Attack and stopped 42. Jordan Kooy had 23 saves in net for the Knights.

The Attack host the Guelph Storm on Tuesday night, while the Knights travel to Sarnia on Wednesday.
