UPDATE: Positive COVID-19 cases identified at two TVDSB schools

The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) has stated that two individuals at separate London and area elementary schools have tested positive for COVID-19.

The school board announced a case Saturday morning at Eagle Heights Public School located on 284 Oxford Street West across from the Cherryhill Village Mall. Later on, the school board declared a case was found at South Ridge Public School in Tillsonburg. The board did not say if it is students or staff members who contracted the virus. They have stated that both schools will remain open next week, and school buses will also continue to operate.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit continues to investigate the case at Eagle Heights while Southwestern Public Health is working with South Ridge to identify any close contacts of the individuals and will follow up directly with those for specific testing and quarantine advice. The TVDSB said they will continue working with the public health units to keep its staff and students safe.

“If you are not contacted by the health unit, your child is not considered to be at risk,” said the TVDSB in a written statement. “The Health Unit will only contact those staff and students who have been identified as close contacts. Close contacts are also being advised to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days.”

On Thursday, two London and area public schools reported cases of COVID-19. One was at West Nissouri Public School while the other was at AB Lucas Secondary School. A dozen TVDSB schools have reported positive cases of the coronavirus since classes resumed in September. The majority of those confirmed cases have since been resolved.

All confirmed active COVID-19 cases at Thames Valley schools are being tracked on the school board’s website.
