Lucan man charged after police cruisers rammed

A series of vehicle thefts, a serious crash, and the ramming of a pair of police cruisers has led to a long list of charges against a Lucan man.

An investigation by OPP found between last Monday and Friday a man was involved in a serious two-vehicle crash and then rammed two police cruisers while trying to get away from officers. Police also alleged the same man was behind the theft of multiple vehicles in Middlesex and Huron counties.

Officers arrested the suspect late last week without further incident.

A 25-year-old Lucan man has since been charged with 25 offences including two counts each of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, dangerous driving, failure to stop at a crash, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, arson causing property damage, failure to comply with probation order, one count of driving while impaired by drugs, and six counts of theft of a motor vehicle.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
