Air Transat doubling winter flights from London to sunny destinations

Londoners already thinking about ditching the frigid cold and snow this winter for sun and sand are in luck.

The London International Airport has announced that starting next month, Air Transat is doubling its weekly flights to Cancun, Mexico and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

"These highly sought-after sun destinations have always been popular among travelers from London, and we are thrilled to extend our winter season to meet the growing demand," said Michèle Barre, Air Transat's chief revenue officer. "With convenient access to these beautiful beach destinations, our Ontario customers can enjoy a memorable vacation filled with stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, and unforgettable experiences."

Air Transat launched its once a week non-stop service to the two sunny destinations last weekend. Flights from London to Cancun currently go on Saturdays, while the London to Punta Cana route takes off on Sundays. Those flights increase to twice weekly starting December 21 with the addition of Thursday flights to Cancun and Friday flights to Punta Cana.

"The London International Airport and Air Transat continue to build on our strong partnership, and we are thrilled to see Air Transat extend their winter season, doubling seat capacity in London for the first time,” said Airport President and CEO Scott McFadzean. “We know Londoners love to take advantage of non-stop destinations, avoiding the hassle of major hubs. Now, you may start travel plans early or extend them later in the winter season to escape the cold!”

The winter season flights will run until the end of April.
